Caron Butler Confirms Markelle Fultz Is Not Only Still In The NBA But Is Healthy And Ready To Dominate

It has been a total of 238 days since any of us have seen Markelle Fultz on a basketball court. That date was November 19th, when he played just 7 minutes against the Phoenix Suns where he finished with 0 points, missed both his shots and had 3 fouls. If you weren’t sure if he was even still in the league I’m not sure anybody could blame you. Since that date in November, nobody really has any idea what the hell is going on. PHI said he was healthy, then he wasn’t but his agent wouldn’t say he was officially hurt. The next thing you know he was dumped in Orlando, a team that needed point guard depth, and he played a total of zero seconds for the Magic. The whole story is one of the more bizarre situations in recent memory. We’ve seen #1 picks be busts before, think Anthony Bennett, but at least we saw him play in order to learn that he was terrible. We have no idea what Markelle Fultz is because he hasn’t played. If you remember he was diagnosed with Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome back in December and the Sixers gave him a timetable of 3-6 weeks. That of course was about a bullshit a timeline as we’ve ever seen.

If you’re wondering how the hell Caron Butler has this type of information, you should know when he played he had an agent by the name of Ramond Brothers. Guess who is Markelle’s agent? You may remember him as the guy who said Fultz looked great and was healthy and would return last season. So if we’re to believe these comments, not only is Markelle Fultz actually still in the NBA, he looks better than ever, is fully healthy and ready to contribute. Now personally I feel like if that were the case given his lack of NBA experience, why did he not play in Summer League. Are the Magic afraid that if he gets exposed against that type of competition he’ll suddenly develop another “injury”? To me the Summer League is where you go to get your footing, and usually it’s the players that have already proven themselves that get to sit out. If Fultz isn’t hurt like Caron Butler and his agent are suggesting, then where the hell was he.

At this point, now that he’s off the Sixers, I can’t help but root for Fultz. Every single one of us was all in on him when he got drafted, he had all the signs of a legit stud coming out of Washington. Then he caught the Sixers rookie injury bug and never seemed to recover. If he turns out to actually be serviceable the Magic are pretty intriguing from a young talent perspective, but at this point I can’t fully believe anything we hear about him on TV or on Twitter in regards to his health and how good he looks. Until he actually shows he can play in an NBA game I don’t wanna hear it.

P.S.

Never forget
