(Source) The Gwinnett County Police Department in Georgia has released the arrest report involving Wednesday’s incident with Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings. Jennings was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and reckless driving following a traffic stop on Interstate 85 just before noon. Jennings was observed traveling 99 mph in a 65 mph zone and, according to the incident report, told the officer he was speeding because, “I have somewhere to be and am running late.” Later, he told the officer he was late for a parent-teacher conference. The officer, the report said, detected a smell of alcohol coming from Jennings’ vehicle and confirmed that it was coming from the cornerback’s breath. The officer also noticed “Jennings had slightly bloodshot watery eyes.” As the officer questioned Jennings about his alcohol intake, the Bears cornerback said he had stopped drinking around 2 a.m., 10 hours prior, according to the report.

Jennings was adamant with the officer that he was not under the influence and was OK to drive. He agreed, according to the police report, to let the officer check his eyes but did not consent to any additional field sobriety evaluations. According to the report, when the officer requested to use an Alco-Sensor to detect whether alcohol was still present on Jennings’ breath, the Bears cornerback said “I am not blowing into that damn thing sir.” Jennings also refused “the 9 step walk and the one leg stand” sobriety tests. Jennings was eventually handcuffed and taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center where he was held for approximately three hours before being released on bond. In a statement Wednesday afternoon, the Bears said, “We are aware of the reports regarding Tim Jennings’ arrest. We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the situation.”

Classic rock and a hard place for Tim Jennings. Don’t go to the parent teacher conference and look like a shitty father and get your ass chewed out by your wife. Go to the parent teacher conference and get a DUI and go to jail. Lose lose right there. And yes you could say maybe he should’ve taken option C, just not get fucked up to the point of being drunk at 11 am in the morning when you have to go to an elementary school but remember, Tim Jennings played on the 2014 Chicago Bears, those are scars and horrors that no man should have to cope with sober. If I were him I’d still be drunk right this second. Just show the cop tape of the Bears game at Lambeau and become an instant pity case. You think I’m joking but I’m 100% serious. No person could watch that pass coverage in that game and put someone in jail. Just not possible.

PS

If you read the details here doesn’t it sound like Tim Jennings just smelled like booze from the night before and wasn’t actually drunk? Not trying to trivialize a DUI but you can’t get arrested for being hungover can you? Honest question because I think we’re all fucked if you can.
