Justin Verlander Named AL All Star Starter Over Lucas Giolito
So I can’t call this a snubbing because it’s not: Verlander was the better starter over the first half. Sucks, but the truth hurts I guess.
Here’s the tale of the tape for the two:
Verlander:
If those two shitbag starts happened against literally any other team I wouldn’t have really given a shit. But the Cubs? Come on mannn
And I truthfully wouldn’t have even cared if he had gotten lit up. Those kinda starts happen even if command is great. But him reverting back to his 2018 form was what pissed me off the most. When Giolito came on Red Line Radio a few weeks back he said he was no longer thinking about the last pitch and instead is now thinking about the next pitch. A few weak hits that fell in, a few borderline pitches he didn’t get and a walk or so and his command left the building. Both he and McCann need to get back into their May/June rhythm and they’ll be good to go. All expectations for him are through the roof right now, so I’m looking forward to how he bounces back.
End of the day… No big deal. Get an inning tomorrow night, get the hell out of that shithole city Cleveland, and come back ready to rock in the 2nd half. He’s going to be a 20 game winner and be right there for the Cy Young award at the end of the year when we’ll be forgetting about this bullshit in the first place.
