Colin Farrell Was So Drunk And High On The Set Of "Minority Report" It Took Him 56 Takes To Say ‘I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradoxical pre-crime methodology"

MIRROR – Hollywood star Colin Farrell has confessed he was once so hungover on set it took 56 takes to nail one line.

The Irish actor, now 43, was starring in the 2002 sci-fi drama Minority Report with Tom Cruise when he went on a huge binge to mark his 25th birthday.

He recalled: “There were a couple of hairy days. I asked them with a great array of arrogance that they not work me the day after my birthday.

“I said, ‘Please don’t have me working on June 1st, because my birthday is May 31st.’

An A-List Hollywood actor got drunk and high?  That wild claim is initially why I thought this story was bullshit, but if it’s on the internet, it’s got to be true.  Collin Farrell was so drunk/high/hungover that he couldn’t read one 10 word sentence on the set of Minority Report.

In Colin Farrell’s defense…he was completely up front and honest about everything.  He calmly sat the director down and said my birthday is coming up, I’m going to be unbelievably fucked up, so maybe I shouldn’t be working that day.  The REAL diva move would be to just go out and get blitzed then not show up to the set.

And, just like Colin openly said: it was an absolute trainwreck.

“I thought a 100 million dollar film would at least listen to that request… but I worked. It was a rough night and I didn’t get any sleep. The line was, ‘I’m sure you’ve all grasped the fundamental paradoxical pre-crime methodology’.

“I only know it now, still, 16 years later because it caused so much panic and anxiety. It should be on my tombstone.

“My sister was on the set that day and she had to leave the set after 56 takes. I was a disaster.”

Man I wish there was video of this.  Like a Minority Report blooper reel only it featured one moment and lasted 30 minutes and was just Colin Farrell continuously trying to read one line.

And I’m not implying that I’m making fun of him for it, because he clearly had a problem and has publicly admitted it, and got himself help, which I’m a huge fan of.

He first sought treatment in 2005 after making a film version of Miami Vice and has now been sober for 13 years after confessing he’d “basically been drunk or high” since he was 14.

He later admitted: “For years I could indulge in certain things. I had a high tolerance for various drugs for years.

“I used to go bananas for five months then take the foot off the gas for two months and clean up a bit. I was sad. I was drinking loads. When I ever drink with my mates, we’d go to a pub on Wednesday night and have six pints.

“Then everyone would go home. I’d get a bag of powder, four joints and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and drink until five in the morning. My family were trying to get me into rehab.”

But he says his chaotic lifestyle hardly ever affected his work – with those 56 takes on Minority Report being a rare exception.

“Basically drunk or high since 14″ is crazy, and going home drunk from the bar and THEN doing coke, smoking 4 joints, and chugging a bottle of Jack is even crazier.

You’d have trouble saying “fundamental paradoxical” too.
