Credit To The Yankees For Allowing The Children Of Boston To Eat For One Night
Red Sox 8 Yankees 5
It’s been a tough spring so far for the children of Boston. For those who are still breathing and hanging onto life support, they were able to have some food last night thanks to the Yankees. Credit to us for not allowing the game to get bigger than real life. We’re out here chasing championships, no doubt, but we also have a heart and last night proved it.
I will say there is something to be said to see Carrabis actually nervous with a six run lead. You could tell in that 8th inning when the wheels were coming off that he was very uneasy. The fact that this Yankees team can strike that kind of fear into the defending champs is very satisfying for me. The lead ended up being too much for New York to come back from, but you can’t win every night.
A big part in why that lead was so big was due to Clint Frazier’s inability to play the outfield. It was the biggest example of the game finding someone in their weakest moments. That’s the cruel part of baseball. His 7th inning was one no player ever hopes to experience in their entire careers. It was BAD.
I don’t really know what it is with him, whether it just be a lack of concentration, his head injury, or if he’s got a bad case of the yips, but it’s hard to watch him out there. What made it even worse was not speaking to the media after the game. That’s just a weak move. You fuck up, face the music the man. Stanton did it all last year, which I don’t think he gets enough credit for. You cost the team runs like Clint did last night, you need to put on a brave face and talk to the media. Those beat reporters are the guys who are going to paint you in a good light if you’re fair to them. Ghosting them like that won’t help you in anyway. I know he’s only 24 years old, but it’s time to grow up man.
You can’t win every game, but you can win most. That is what the Yankees are doing these days. Two of three from Boston means another series W, making it nine (9) in a row. Dating back to April 14th, they’ve lost one series total (White Sox). They’re 18 games over .500, 8.5 up on Boston, and 2.5 over Tampa. Didi Gregorius is back on Friday. Aaron Judge is beginning to ramp things up with his rehab. Stanton is heading down to Tampa with Dellin. The Yankees are in a fantastic spot a little over a 1/3 of the way through the season.
New Short Porch out today. We recorded right after the game last night and recapped the series.
