China Officially Blocked All Versions Of Wikipedia Because They Can
Daily Mail – Authorities in China have blocked all language editions of Wikipedia, the online encyclopaedia’s owner said today, ahead of the country’s most politically explosive anniversary.
‘In April, the Wikimedia Foundation determined that Wikipedia was no longer accessible in China,’ Samantha Lien, spokeswoman for the Wikimedia Foundation, which owns Wikipedia, said in an email.
Previously, most editions of Wikipedia – besides the Chinese language version, which was reportedly blocked in 2015 – were available.
‘After closely analysing our internal traffic reports, we can confirm Wikipedia is blocked across all language versions,’ Lien said.
The Cyberspace Administration of China, which oversees China’s internet censorship, did not respond immediately to a faxed request for comment.
I’m not trying to start a fight or anything but obviously being a regular Joe in China sucks. Nevermind the fact they’re using fax machines. If you look up advantages compared to the United States, people say things like you don’t need a car and it’s sooo cheap and you can bribe anyone for anything. All advantages no doubt – but nothing in comparison to basic free will and regular access to the following websites:
Gmail
Google Maps
Google Docs
YouTube
Nintendo
Blogspot
XVideos
xHamster
Pornhub
Dailymotion
The New York Times
Dropbox
Vimeo
SoundCloud
Scribd
Bloomberg
BBC
Periscope
Tumblr
Wall Street Journal
Reuters
The Economist
TIME
BigCommerce
HBO

To think there are any people in the United States, Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, that want to entertain any kind of socialism.
No thanks.
