The Sacramento Kings Unleashed A Hall Of Fame Troll Job On The Sixers During Last Night's Lottery

I would say the majority of the time, the social media of a professional sports team is pretty lame. More misses than hits if you know what I mean. But not the Kings. They have one of the best team social media accounts in all of sports and this tweet right here is a great example why. Put this shit in the Twitter Hall Of Fame because it doesn’t get much better. As the owner of that SAC pick I feel like I had to address this dragging that the Kings put on for the world to see, and there’s just so much to love here. First, great dig with the Kawhi shot. That wound is definitely still fresh and very topical. The line about the ball not bouncing your way is perfect considering if the ball bounced any different on the rim who knows maybe the Sixers are still alive. Then to tie that in with the ping pong ball also not bouncing their way and landing them Zion, well the symmetry there is pure art. It really was close because apparently that pick was 1 ping pong ball away from being guaranteed top 4. So even if the percentage was small that the Sixers were going to get it, it was still a possibility.

For those who don’t remember, this was the final domino to fall in what has been a pretty wild series of events involving this pick. The Sixers got it in the first place from the Sam Hinkie days, here is how that broke down

Sixers got:

– 1st round pick swap in 2016 or 2017 which was used in 2017 to go from 5 to 3.

– Kings unprotected 2019 1st round pick

– Nik Stauskas who was off the team by 2017

– Jason Thompson who was immediately traded

– Carl Landry who spent 1 season in PHI and then was waived in 2016

Kings got:

– A couple euro guys who haven’t played in the NBA

On the surface this was a decent trade for PHI. Now as we know they eventually gave up that number 3 spot and the Kings pick to take Markelle Fultz at #1, so basically that ended up being Tatum + 14 for Fultz, who maybe you’ve heard is no longer on the Sixers. When you look at everything from both deals, the Sixers walk away with 2020 top protected Thunder 1st, 2019 Magic 2nd, and Jonathan Simmons who did not play all that much for the Sixers. Woof. Now that’s not on Hinkie but still, rough look.

So if you’re the Kings, you had to take this opportunity to get your shots in. It’s not like you owned the pick anyway so you may as well have some fun. A team that has been a laughing stock of the league for a while finally has really good young talent, will probably be a playoff team in the West next year and has perhaps the best Twitter in the NBA. Things really are on the up and up in Sacramento and if that means more tweets like this I am all for it.
