Brothel Owner Vows Her Workers Will Never Be Replaced with Sex Robots
Source - SEX robots can’t compete with the real sex workers, the madam of world’s biggest brothel has said.
Dena, from famous Nevada legal brothel Sheri’s Ranch made the revelation to Daily Star Online.
Sheri’s Ranch is believed to be the largest establishment of its kind in the world – styling itself as a luxurious sex resort.
But scientists and engineers the world over are tinkering in labs and workshops to perfect the next generation of “sex robots”.
It has been predicted that by 2050, human-on-robot sex will be more common than human-on-human romps.
Dena told Daily Star Online that she doesn’t think the sex robots will be impacting them anytime soon. …“Sex workers at Sheri’s offer an emotional connection and authentic human intimacy.
“In order for a sex robot to compete with a human courtesan, it would have to be a genuinely self-aware AI.”
I hope Dena is right. For her sake as well as all her employees and the entire population of the world’s noble and honorable sex worker profession.
I just don’t know if she is, though. We’ve seen too many situations like this, where human beings have their jobs taken away by machines. And never mind going back to the industrial revolution, just in my lifetime alone. ATMs. Online purchases. Software that enables you to do your own taxes. Hell, I have a local supermarket where a five foot tall Roomba-like robot with googly eyes stuck to it roams the aisles looking for spills. And count me as one of those people who thought I’d never want to scan my own groceries but if I don’t have all that much to purchase will go the self checkout.
It’s not right on some level and I feel bad that I might be taking entry level jobs away from lot of people in favor a few high tech jobs building and servicing the devices. But when it comes down to it, sometimes you just don’t want human interaction.
And maybe that’s how your typical sex consumer feels. If it really was about looking for “an emotional connection and authentic human intimacy,” wouldn’t these guys go out and try to meet a nice woman at the church social? Isn’t that what we have book clubs for? Not to mention dating sites and nightclubs? I’m just spitballing here, but my guess is man who drives out to Sheri’s Ranch and pays a woman for sex is mainly looking for … well, sex. And this doesn’t strike me as a demographic that’s big into “authentic” anything, much less intimacy. Or awkward small talk with a woman who ran away from home to become a sex worker when her stepdad tried to molest her. I’m no authority, but that’s my guess. So best wishes to Dena and the staff at Sheri’s. Let’s hope that theirs is one industry that survives the high tech revolution.
P.S. I would like to see this as a plot device to in the next “Terminator.” A near-future battle between the human hookers and a sex machine that can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop… ever, until you are sexually satisfied. That franchise has been a mess for years. And a good Whore War storyline could save it.
