Pat Maroon's Son's Reaction After His Dad Just Scored The 2OT Goal Is A Special Moment

Wow. This is one of those moments when sports are not just a joke or a fun thing to watch while drinking at a bar. These are real people with real emotions and VERY real lives. Pat Maroon took a 1 year deal with the Blues last year to play in his hometown and specifically to spend more time with his son Anthony who lives in St. Louis full time. Pat famously broke down in tears a few years ago when he scored in St. Louis and had to describe what it meant to him to Sportsnet.

So take that emotion and multiply it by a million when you consider the magnitude of this goal. A night like tonight will go down for years to come. There have only been 13 NHL Game 7’s to go to Double OT and there can’t be any other game winning goal scorers that are from the town they scored it in. No joke, its one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in sports as a hockey player from St. Louis. Pat Maroon is one of the most genuine and real people in the game today and to see him get rewarded on such a national stage is extremely cool and deserving. In contrast with so many of the diva personalities that dominate the headlines for most of the year, seeing a meat and potatoes dude absolutely grinding his ass off to make it happen at all costs is so refreshing.

The Blues are in the Western Conference Finals for only the third time this Millennium and I’ll be damned if we’re going to be satisfied with stopping there. Time to pile even more people on the Big Rig and keep trucking forward.

Wear what the winners wear!
