Jonah Ryan From Veep Is The Funniest Character On TV Right Now

I know I don’t talk about TV all that much. But, this has been too good to start season 7 for me not to. And it’s all centered around my love for the character Jonah Ryan on Veep. I mean the show itself is just the absolute best. It’s somehow wildly underrated and not talked about enough despite cleaning up awards after awards. It has the perfect cast and while JLD absolutely kills it, I find myself hysterically laughing when it comes to Jonah Ryan.

Let’s just look at the first two episodes of this final season. Episode one has him married to his former step sister while running for President. We know that’s all hot in the porn streets so might as well drop it into Veep. Plus him dropping the line ‘whatever one it is that when I bone she doesn’t give birth to a pile of legs.’ Outlandish and the best.

Then in episode 2 the fact they bring up the MeToo movement with him and NotMe. This only works with Jonah. Bringing up all his ex-girlfriends and whatever to make sure their NDA’s stay that way. They don’t want to be associated with him. I may not have laughed harder during that segment.

Yeah it helps he’s a giant. Yeah, it helps that he absolutely perfected the delivery of his lines and receiving lines at him. But, take a look at some of these examples:

The writers of Veep are absolutely unreal. We see things brought up over the last few years that we didn’t think were real and then boom happens in real life. They do an unbelievable job of framing the entire episode. They write in jokes all over the place and build these characters where you’re just constantly following along. It’s remarkable. It’s also a shame that it’s ending simply because it’s one of the best comedies ever.

But for now and it could just be my liking of comedy Jonah Ryan is the funniest character on TV. I know there might be some push back with the It’s Always Sunny crew but it’s so hard for me to pick one from there instead of the group as a whole. Andrea Savage from I’m Sorry may be up there. I’m sure I’m missing some people, but for me it’s Jonah Ryan.
