Carlos Santana Passes His U.S. Citizenship Test and Then Hits a Walk-Off Home Run Against Toronto

So Indians manager Terry Francona announced yesterday in his pregame press conference that two of the Indians players, Hanley Ramirez and Carlos Santana, had passed their U.S. citizenship test. Congrats to both of them, and it appears they worked pretty hard on it.

Ramirez and Santana both said they studied after spring training games in Arizona. At night, both dedicated themselves to learning about American history and the U.S. Constitution.

Santana would spend about 30 minutes every night reading with his wife while their two daughters slept nearby. Once he passed his test, he was overcome with emotion and began crying.

That’s awesome. Ramirez said passing the test was “a good feeling, like hitting a grand slam”. Well, Carlos Santana decided to celebrate his passing of the test by hitting a home run of his own. And oh baby it was a big one…

First you pass your U.S. Citizenship Test. Then you hit a walk-off home run against the team from Canada. Welcome to America, Carlos! And welcome back to Cleveland! It was just like the old times last night, as he moved into tied for 3rd in career walk-offs in Indians history.

And I’ll tell you what. This Indians team is growing on me. I was a pretty big hater coming into the season, with Larry Dolan being a douchebag and all, but this pitching has got me all hot and bothered these past couple of days. Not a bad performance from our 5th starter last night.

Bieber Fever! And speaking off musical geniuses, how about Jake Bauer’s walk-up song last night?

As of April 6th, 2019, I am back in on the Cleveland Indians.
