Call Me Crazy But LSU Could Have Used Its Head Coach vs Tom Izzo
I know LSU cut it to 4 and made it interesting for a few minutes but let’s call a spade a spade. Michigan State kicked LSU’s ass tonight. I really thought this was a game that could benefit LSU. They have so much talent, even without a head coach. But, not shockingly I was wrong. Incredibly wrong.
You could see it right away. This is a ton of credit to guys like Aaron Henry and Gabe Brown who both knocked down threes in the first half. It wasn’t contested threes either. Michigan State ran some sets to get Winston going downhill and then look for the kick pass to one of those two. LSU looked lost defensively, especially when it came to guarding Gabe Brown. That’s where you need your head coach.
As for Michigan State? Well I’m wildly impressed. They keep battling injuries. No Josh Langford for the majority of the season. Kyle Ahrens has been in and out with injury. Nick Ward missed time and looks like he may have injured his hand again during this game. Yet, here they are. The Elite Eight after a few years of not even getting out of the first weekend. Complete credit to Izzo and Winston.
They get the winner of Duke/Virginia Tech now on Sunday.
