British Airways Flight Takes Passengers To The Wrong Country - Pilot Then Asks Everyone To Raise Their Hand If They Want To Go To The Actual Destination

BBC

A British Airways flight destined for Dusseldorf in Germany has landed in Edinburgh by mistake, after the flight paperwork was submitted incorrectly. The passengers only realised the error when the plane landed and the “welcome to Edinburgh” announcement was made.

The plane, which started at London’s City Airport, was then redirected and landed in Dusseldorf. WDL Aviation ran the BA flight through a leasing deal. BA said it was working with WDL to find out why it filed the wrong flight plan.

Typically when your flight lands you expect to be in the destination you booked your flight for. That sounds like standard flight protocol if you ask me. Well, today a plane took off from London, headed to Dusseldorf, Germany. When it landed the pilot said, “Welcome to Edinburgh.” Everyone thought the pilot was just pulling a fast one on them and making a joke. NOPE. Welcome to Edinburgh, Scotland, thanks for playing flight lottery where you have no flipping clue where you’re actually going once you take off! The best part is what the pilot did after they landed.

Sophie Cooke, a 24-year-old management consultant, travels from London To Dusseldorf each week for work. She said when the pilot first made the announcement that the plane was about to land in Edinburgh everyone assumed it was a joke. She asked the cabin crew if they were serious. The pilot then asked passengers to raise their hands if they wanted to go to Dusseldorf.

Everyone raised their hands.

Hey pal, you just flew everyone to the wrong country. Did you think they were all going to be fine with that? Asking everyone to raise their hands if they wanted to go to the actual destination they bought tickets for is laugh out loud funny. That should be grounds for the passengers to fight the pilot with no consequence. The plane was then grounded for two and a half hours on the tarmac before taking off for its actual destination. If there’s one thing I’ve stressed on this blog it’s that sitting on a plane trapped on the tarmac for any period of time is worse than almost anything. It’s a straight up torture chamber.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say someone is getting fired. I mean this sounds like a scene from the movie Airplane!

RIP to the GOAT Leslie Nielson. Not many people made me laugh like that man.
