I'm Not Sure If I Necessarily Believe This NCAA Video About What A Day In The Life Of A Student-Athlete Looks Like

Wake up, go to class, go for a little run, hang out with some friends in the courtyard with all that free time that these top level student-athletes always brag about, go play a game real quick, hang out at the library, go to sleep.Hmmmm… Something just doesn’t add up here.

I mean first off, I think they left a few things out of this video. Morning lift, film session, pre-game walk throughs, etc. etc. And that’s just on the “athlete” portion of being a student-athlete. It looked like this young lad ended up night in the library after his game which, ya know, athletes always do. But even if that were the case, how much time did he have in the library? Maybe an hour tops? How is he supposed to get all of his homework done in that short amount of time?

But even if they left a few things out of this video, let’s talk about the events that are about to transpire over the next couple of weeks which is quite arguably the biggest few weeks on the NCAA’s calendar, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. So for example, let’s use the 1st round matchup that is probably going to end up drawing the most amount of eyes with Ja Morant and Murray State taking on Markus Howard and Marquette. The two teams will be playing each other at 4:20pm on Thursday in Hartford, CT. I don’t know if you know this about Murray State and Marquette or not, but neither of those schools are located in Hartford, CT. So both teams are traveling away from their school in the middle of the week to play a basketball game. Sure seems like it’s going to be difficult to uphold the “student” portion of student-athlete in that situation.

Now remember, it was the NCAA themselves who just said “if you have the talent and dedication to achieve in school and in sports, we’ll provide the opportunity”.  I’m sorry but where is the opportunity here for these students to achieve in school if you’re forcing them to travel away from their classrooms in the middle of the week to play a game? Hmmmmmm…..HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM…..

What’s that thing called when you purposefully put out misleading, and often false, information to influence and further a particular agenda? Is it propaganda or something like that? Because if that’s the word I’m looking for, then that’s exactly the word that can be used to describe this video.
