It Is Destiny For This Baby Wallaby To Be Named Young Pouchviews
If you’ve been following Barstool for the past couple years, you may know that Wallabies have a special place in my life. In fact, one White Wallaby named Winston helped change my life in a huge way in late 2016. You can see it here or here.
So when I started getting tagged in tweets that Grant’s Farm in my hometown of St. Louis had a newborn Wallaby that needed naming, I couldn’t help myself. It felt like destiny. Growing up I went to Grant’s Farm a million times and always loved being amongst all of the animals there and watching the Birds Of Prey demonstrations. A sensation deep in my plums telling me one thing and one thing only: I had to get involved with this unbelievably cute little marsupial somehow. You know how some people “adopt” highways or sponsor an elephant in Africa? Surely there was a way to send this little dude some extra love. I reached out to them to try and sponsor him and name him as my official title as my Wallaby Heir.
It seemed like they might be open to the idea
Someone suggested the name “Young Pouchviews” and when you look at this thing,
It looks like it might ALREADY be his name. The son of Violet the Wallaby is clearly young and is definitely peering out from his mother’s pouch. Pouchviews. While I realize that he will soon be too big for burrowing in Mom’s pouch, its smart to never forget where you came from. Who doesn’t love their mother? He will always remember to show her a ton of love.
Now I know it’s not your average name for a Wallaby but in my opinion, “Rocko or Wally” which have been proposed as the other two options, are good but just too basic. This is not your average Wallaby but the chosen one of Wallabies, brought onto our Earth to spread the most love to wildlife fans at Grant’s Farm of any Wallaby in history. I can’t tell you how I know but sometimes you just feel it inside of you, and this is one of those times. He needs a name out of the ordinary.
In my mind I’ve been picturing a grandparents type situation where I’d come in town, bring him a ton of his favorite food, he’d hop over and I’d give him a big hug, and then show him the presents I brought him… which would probably just be more food because I’m not sure what a Wallaby would do with a Xbox or iPhone. Every single place I went I would show pictures of my adopted Wallaby son like I currently do with my other mammal son Boris.
When he grows up I will keep visiting him and bring him gifts, while letting him have his space and respecting him as a growing Wallaby. I want him to know I love him but don’t want to embarrass him in front of his friends. Maybe some day down the road he will have a Wallaby lady in his life and start a family of his own? It brings a tear to my eye even just thinking about it.
Please Grant’s Farm, I want to show ‘Young Pouchviews’ to the world and make him the most loved Wallaby of all time. I already made him an Instagram account just in case! I’ll be in St. Louis this weekend and would love to come see young YP!!!
