Tumblr Has Lost Almost 100 Million Users One Month After Banning Porn
Tumblr’s decision to remove virtually all adult material from the site— educational, newsworthy, or political nudity are still “fine”—was a reaction, or some would say overreaction, to the app disappearing from the App Store after the discovery of child pornography on the platform.
So Tumblr has died on their hill saying that this was the right decision because it’s part of their longterm plan, and I completely get it. I get the fact that you want to be able to tell potential advertisers or clients that they won’t have to worry about their product being followed up by some hardcore sex scene. Coca Cola doesn’t want to worry about having their Santa Claus ad followed up by a Riley Reid scene where she’s stuffing a stocking in her asshole.
HOWEVER
It’s a shame that this is a thing. Porn is fucking huge. Look at the Top 20 websites in America:
Porn all over the joint. 4 out of the top 20 spots (possibly 5 if you’re one of those that likes to get down on Craigslist) is crazy considering most of the other ones are search engines or social media. Could you imagine if Pornhub actually was able to sprinkle some ad dollars into places? With Barstool hitting their target demo I have no doubt in my mind that we’d be a billion dollar company if they could so let’s make it happen.
Let us co-sponsor our Super Bowl house with ‘Riley Does ‘Em All 9′ and stop acting like everybody doesn’t watch porn already.
P.S. – Kinda wild that Ebay is still in the Top 10. Who the hell still goes on Ebay? I thought that was only huge because it was the only way people could sell their figurines or whatever the hell they wanted to sell back in the day.
