New Jersey Lawmakers Agree on Legislation To Legalize Recreational Weed, Thank God I Live In New Jersey

SOURCE -TRENTON, New Jersey — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and legislative leaders say they’ve agreed on legislation to legalize recreational marijuana for adults.

The Democrats announced the agreement in a statement Tuesday after more than a year of negotiations, mostly behind closed doors.

It’s unclear whether there are enough votes in the Democrat-controlled Legislature to pass the bill, but the agreement marks the first time leaders have laid out the details of the plan.

The deal calls for a $42 per ounce tax and entitles towns to collect tax revenue, as well. Municipalities with cannabis retailers could collect 3 percent tax, those with cultivators will collect 2 percent and those with wholesalers would get 1 percent.

The measure calls for a five-member regulatory commission.

Ten states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana.
LETS GOOOOOO! This is HUGE for the brand. When I moved from New York to Hoboken, New Jersey in October it wasn’t with the intentions of moving for the purpose of living in a legal weed state but hey, happy accident am I right?!
I’m really interested to see what the prices at a dispensary are like in states like New Jersey and New York when it inevitably becomes legal. In Colorado the prices are cheap enough that even after tax, ounces of good bud are still like $125. I couldn’t imagine it would be that cheap over here but if they’re close to that price it will still be WAY better than these hefty ass prices the New York City weed delivery services charge.
If they really want to cut out the weed dealers they better make those prices reasonable. If people are willing to pay $5 extra to have $15 of food delivered to their house they are definitely willing to pay a little more to have their weed delivered. These NYC delivery services always have that gas too so the dispensaries better come correct. None of that Reginald Bush shit we need that Sour. I’m trusting in New Jersey and New York to come through with the good-good. I’ve lived in New York/New Jersey area my whole life and the three things we can hang our hats on is good pizza, good bagels and good weed.

The first legal NY-NJ organized smoke out is gonna be an all-time scene. If there’s one thing I can guarantee in this world it’s that when it happens I will be there with a chamber full of fat dutchmasters stuffed with Sour D and will make sure this song is blaring loud enough to hear from Albany to Atlantic City.
