"Excuse Me, I've Had A Couple Beers" - Alvin Gentry Was "Hammered" In His Postgame Interview Last Night And Frankly He Deserves It

Listen, nobody has had it tougher than Alvin Gentry. He entered the season with high expectations given his team’s success last season, they underachieved and then boom before he knew what was going on his best player and franchise talent publicly demanded a trade in the middle of the season and essentially blew up the entire franchise. He then had to deal with the dilemma of playing AD or sitting him all while losing all the time, I can only imagine the toll it’s taken on him as the season comes to a close. The GM got fired, everyone knows they’re trading AD this summer and who knows what his future is with this team after just one playoff appearance in his four seasons in NO.

But riding a 3 game winning streak and after taking down a Utah Jazz team that has been playing pretty well recently, you’re damn right Gentry is going to shotgun some beers and celebrate. They came back from 17 down on the road which is never easy to do, especially in UTA that’s a tough place to play, and in a season of disaster this is a completely understandable move. What does he have to lose? Crack a few cold ones open and get absolutely hammered before your postgame interview. I feel like those happen pretty quick after the game ends, so he must have POUNDED those beers. I need more details on that who scenario. Did they have a chugging contest or something? Did he go full Stone Cold Steve Austin?

Either way you can tell he has no idea what he’s saying and that’s the best part. He knew he was doing a terrible job of keeping it in and he just had to come clean. In my book he did nothing wrong and frankly should be allowed to get tanked after every win because who knows how many more he’ll have.
