I’ve got to be honest, I don’t hate this move. I remember going to prom in a limo and it was the fucking worst. I sat all the way in the back facing sideways behind the driver with fifteen people between me and the door. Seven of them were girls in oversized, overdone, highly flammable dresses. God forbid someone lit a cigarette; I would’ve been screwed. The whole experience sucked. Everyone was trying to drink as much as possible before we got to the venue so it would tolerable. I don’t even know how much it costs because my mom paid (thanks mom), but whatever it was, it wasn’t worth it.
A party bus would’ve been much more enjoyable. Tons of room for activities and you don’t have to worry about being lumped in with people you don’t know. Also, you don’t have to worry about them using the ‘jaws of life’ on you when you get crushed to death like they threatened would happen in the anti-drinking driving presentation before the dance. Now, obviously some people (girls) are upset that there won’t be limos.
“Senior Alex Barna tells WCBS-TV that riding in a limo or party bus was “the best part of the night.”
Parent Holly Bosland tells The Record that taking a limo to prom is a tradition, and school officials are taking that away.”
But what those people don’t understand is that prom isn’t the best night of your life. It’s not even the best night of that week. It’s a over-produced, overdone, stress factory of an event that’s never worth the hassle. You realize that about five minutes after you walk in the door. And if you let your mode of transportation for the night upset you, you need to reevaluate your life. So, save yourself the inconvenience and don’t even go if you’re upset. Sneak a thirty rack into your parent’s basement and drink with your buddies. Those nights will always ended up better than anything the school puts on.
PS: They should def still have a choice though…
