I Think I Love Playmaker Ovi As Much As I Love 1,000 MPH Slapper Ovi

Last night was not fair. The Senators are in complete, complete, completeeeeee rebuild mode and it showed as the Caps skated circles around them. What is funny though is the Sens actually got off to a 2-0 lead…before giving up 7 unanswered. One of those answered goals was the above, when Stanley Cup champion Tom Wilson put in his 18th of the season off a beautiful play by both Kuzy and Ovi. Imagine being the team that leaves an elite goal scorer like SCC Tom Wilson that open in front of the net? Yikes.

What I love though is playmaker Ovi from the Ovi Spot. Sure he could have rocketed that bad boy 1,000 MPH, but when we see him making heads up passing plays, my heart is tickled.

He’s winding up for his patented one-timer…

Notices Willy going towards the net…

And then calls the audible, putting it right on his stick for the tap-in

We always talk about Ovi’s incredible knack for scoring, but we overlook his passing abilities (usually because he’s too busy scoring).

With two assists last night, Ovi now has points in 7 straight games, and ends the month of February with 17 points in 13 games.

The Caps finish the month 9-5 (Ovi missed the first game due to suspension from not playing in the ASG), and are now back to tied for the lead in the Metro.

Those fuckin’ Hurricanes, man. Wouldn’t it be something if they held on to the playoff spot over the Pens and Jackets?

The Caps will be up on the Island playing in Frankie Borrelli’s Coli on Friday in what should be a very fun game to watch. I’ll tell ya what, not for nothing, that Islanders Goals Against and Goal Differential is pretty sick. Trotz has them playing absurd team defense. This homestretch is going to be so stressful for basically the entire league battling for playoff spots…and then the real stress will begin (knock on wood).

PS: Remember when that plug Ryan Reaves said they “play the same style”?

LOL.
