This Finnish Rap Song About Lauri Markkanen BANGS
One of my favorite parts about all these really awesome young players coming into the league from all over the world is it exposes us to different cultures. When it comes to NBA players, that usually means some sort of rap song praising the player from that country. Whenever I see one float around the internet I can’t click fast enough because there are some legit bangers and while at the same time others are hilariously terrible. Well I can say without a doubt that this Finnish rap song about Baby Dirk is fire
Do I have any idea what they’re saying? Not a goddamn clue. I was able to make out Lauri Markkanen and that’s about it but that’s fine. This shit bangs and even without knowing what the hell is being said that doesn’t change a thing for me. Great beat, impressive flow, awesome music video, this checks all the boxes in my opinion. After hearing this though I now have some questions that maybe some Chicago stoolies can help me answer. Do they play this at the arena? If not, what the hell? YouTube tells me this video is from May so I see no reason why the Bulls shouldn’t play this as his intro song or something along those lines. I mean try and listen to that and not get pumped up, you can’t. I also wonder if he knows about it and has been listening to it recently which may explain why he’s been on an absolute tear over his last 10 games averaging a legit 22/12.
But as I mentioned, Baby Dirk isn’t the only Euro player to get this treatment. How could anyone forget the Porzingis rap?
Again, no idea what the hell they’re saying and it doesn’t matter one bit. This is probably still topping the charts over in Latvia. Then we also had my personal favorite and to this day the best song on the internet about an NBA player. The one about Danilo Gallinari
Anytime I come across this video (which is way more often than I should admit), I listen to this song no less than 1,000 times. It’s catchy and don’t lie to yourself, if you clicked this video you are nodding your head right now as you listen to it. Impossible not to.
So I’m glad someone as good as Lauri has a fire tribute song floating out there on the internet. I don’t know why but I feel like there’s a correlation between how good your tribute song is and how good of an NBA player you might be (Gallo’s injuries boned him). If I’m a Bulls fan I was already excited about the progress that Baby Dirk has shown, but this would take my excitement to the next level.
