DC Announces Ben Affleck Is Finished Being Batman - DC Should Just Stop Making Batman Movies All Together
I’m a Batman hardo. I don’t think there will ever be a better trilogy of movies than Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight series. It’s unbeatable in my mind. Christian Bale could not have played a better batman and the final movie ended in the most perfect way. The fact that it’s 2019 and DC is still trying to pump out new Batman movies is flat-out embarrassing.
Last night DC announced that Ben Affleck’s time as the caped crusader was over. Their next movie about Batman will be during his earlier years and someone else will be taking over. Affleck’s portrayal of Batman in Batman vs. Superman and Justice League was abysmal. Maybe it was just because DC sucks and he was destined to fail, but it was a disaster in every sense of the word. He needed to move on.
Well I’ve got an idea. How about DC stops making new Batman movies all together? Nothing what they make will come close to Nolan’s version. Nothing. DC is just digging themselves a bigger and bigger hole every time they keep trying.
When the news broke last night I got a little nostalgic and started rewatching old clips from the Nolan trilogy. As I say in the tweet below, I don’t think there will ever be a scene in a movie that gives me bigger goosebumps than when Bruce Wayne climbs out of the pit and escapes the prison.
It just did again. When Hans Zimmer’s music BLASTED in the movie theater I wanted to go to Gotham and join the fight. Adrenaline was racing through my body. I was about to start my freshman year of college a few months later, but right then and there I contemplated becoming batman and forgoing my attempt at a diploma. Side note, I used to listen to Hans Zimmer’s ‘Rise’ whenever I was writing a big essay in school and needed motivation.
I know The Dark Knight will go down as the best movie from that trilogy, and one of the best movies ever made, but Dark Knight Rises gets the short end of the stick solely trying to top Dark Knight. It’s still an awesome movie and that scene will always be #1 in my mind.
