Manny Machado's Wife is Reportedly Enamored By New York City While A-Rod Is Throwing Manny Thirst Traps On Instagram: What Does It All Mean?
I am by no means an expert in the art of thirst trapping (unlike Ellie/Kayce), but we all know what A-Rod is doing here and I love every part of it. At the end of the day A-Rod will always be the Yankees ace in their hole to play when they are out of options. I’m not saying the Yankees have exhausted all their options to court the prized third baseman, but an A-Rod full court press is definitely one of their final moves, A-Rod is still employed by the Yankees as an advisor and he badly wants this team to rise back to the top of the world after being knocked down the last few years. Manny’s lifelong idol has always been A-Rod, so I’m praying he sees this Insta and takes it as a sign. Hope is all we’ve got.
Another interesting development came today from NYDN writer Wallace Matthews, who goes by @OysterBayBomber on Twitter for whatever reason. In his article he notes how Manny’s wife Yainee is “enamored” by New York City and the idea of living in it. In the past Mark Teixeira was pushed to the Yankees because his wife loved to shop there and be there all the time. On the flip side, Cliff Lee and Patrick Corbin’s wives HATED New York and made sure their husbands didn’t choose that destination. Happy wife happy life is the old saying. Along with sharing her husband’s Instagram account she reportedly has a strong influence on all of his decisions, rightfully so.
Manny even has this tattoo of her.
So what does this all mean? Nothing. If the White Sox or Phillies offer $300 million then he’s probably going there. He could value his wife’s opinion all he wants, but if the Yankees offer is $70 million off of others then he ain’t going there, at least I don’t think. The best career path for him is New York no question (not biased at all), but how much money is he willing to leave on the table to go there? Hopefully a lot.
I’ve lost confidence by the day to be honest and I just want it to end. This is exhausting. Major League Baseball needs a deadline on this shit. Please come to New York.
P.S. The A-Rod, Jeter, Cano, Tex infield is the best infield of all time, don’t @ me.
