Bohemian Rhapsody Winning Best Picture At The Golden Globes Is Dumb As Hell

What the fuck.

WHAT THE FUCK?!

I hate people who try and bravely proclaim that they despise award shows and won’t watch them. But I have decided to side with them for a few days after the bullshit the Hollywood Foreign Press Association pulled tonight with the Golden Globes and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

I can name roughly 20-25 other movies in the drama category that were more deserving of the award. It was a bland, boring biopic that changed around the story of Freddie Mercury for the sake of drama. I know movies change things up for the sake of drama, but the extent they went with ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was insane. It did no justice to the icon that is Freddie Mercury and played it as safe as possible.

‘A Star Is Born’ was the big-time odds-on-favorite to win the award and then this boring run-of-the-mill movie featuring cool concert scenes you can find on YouTube and covers of songs that you can find online from the real band swooped in and won the award. Every movie in the category, actually, deserved it over ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Damn it, if ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ gets nominated and wins awards, then why the fuck didn’t ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’, a far better movie, get any love?

This is the movie fan version of watching your kicker miss a game-winning field goal in the playoffs (okay, not quite, shout out to all Bears fans, that was rough, but I am a Browns fan, so it could be worse).

This movie WILL NOT win at the Oscars, but now, with the win tonight, it will get a nomination, which stinks.

LAST THOUGHT: Everyone bitches and moans about comic book movies, tentpole franchises, and creativity in Hollywood, but awarding bland biopics that don’t even take a chance and tell a story worth telling about an impactful figure like Freddie Mercury is far worse for the movie industry, in my humble opinion.
