The Foxy Lady Re Opens To Aerosmith's “Back in the Saddle” Three Weeks After It Got Shut Down Because All The Dancers Turned Out To Be Hookers

Source - PROVIDENCE — With little fanfare and “Back in the Saddle” by Aerosmith playing on the speakers, the Foxy Lady strip club officially reopened at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

The city Board of Licenses on Dec. 12 at an emergency hearing shut down the club after three dancers were arrested on prostitution charges the night before in an undercover operation. City officials said the club’s management was well aware of its prostitution problem. After considering evidence from police, the board on Dec. 19 permanently revoked all of its licenses, effectively shuttering the club.

But the Foxy Lady fought back in court, and has now won permission to reopen from the state Department of Business Regulation, which hears appeals over liquor licenses, and the state Supreme Court, which hears appeals on entertainment licenses.

Final decisions on the licenses, which could still go in the city’s favor, could drag on for weeks or months. But in the meantime, the lights will be back on at the Foxy Lady.

Love it! If I’m not mistaken, I predicted this would happen back on December 20th…

“The Foxy lady has been shut down like seven-hundred times before, so they’ll be back. I’m not going to let a few bad apples spoil what was a great experience. SO RIP to the Foxy lady now. And I’ll see you when you open back up.”

I honestly wasn’t even going to blog it, but then I read that not only were they playing “Back in the Saddle” while the doors opened, the strippers showed up to work at 10:00 AM, told the regulars how much they missed them, and comped everyone free drinks so I couldn’t resist. What an unbelievable visual.

A few regular customers lined the bar, drinking beer and watching ESPN. Dancers told them that they’d missed them, and missed coming to work for the three weeks the Chalkstone Avenue club had been shut down. Club management comped drinks for the early arrivers with the wave of an arm, and women stripped on the nearby dance floor.

Workers were at the club before 10 a.m., filling out paperwork to get their jobs back.  It is also re-emphasizing its policies when re-hiring dancers and other workers.

Let’s take a look at how Angell, the strip club manager with a name to match, addressed the media.

It would be, according to manager Richard Angell, the Foxy Lady that people have known for nearly 40 years. “We’ll show a good show today,” Angell said. He added: “We’re very glad the Foxy Lady is back and we can put our people back to work.”

I bet you will, Angell. I bet you will.  He’s even going to rehire the women who were giving blowies in the champagne room AND Tammy the “rub girl.” What could go wrong?

The club would consider re-hiring the three dancers who were arrested on Dec. 11 on prostitution charges if they’re found not guilty, which he believes they are, Angell said. Earlier Friday morning Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Paré and lawyers for the city met with lawyers and management for the Foxy Lady inside the club.

Tammy Marie Kruwell, a “Foxy rub girl,” has been among the more vocal critics of the club’s closure, and on Friday, she was back to work, greeting patrons and taking a break only for a brief interview at the strip club’s bar.

We’ll see how long it is until they’re shut down again, but for now, love long live the Foxy Lady!
