A High School Student Drew The Super Smash Bros Logo On A White Board - Everyone Freaked Out And Thought He Was Going To Shoot Up The School
Rumors swirled about a potential school shooting at East Clinton High School in Sabina, Ohio, after a student drew a logo of a video game on a whiteboard, which his classmates misinterpreted as a threat, according to a report from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office obtained by BuzzFeed News.
A student wrote “Dec. 7th Time to [Super Smash Bros. logo]” on a classroom whiteboard leading up to the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Friday.
After the logo appeared two days in a row, four female students went to speak to the school’s principal, Kerri Matheny. In an email to BuzzFeed News, the superintendent said that the symbol was written on the board on Nov. 29th and 30th.
Matheny spoke with the student responsible for writing the phrase. He explained to her that he “did not mean to cause an alarm” and that it was a symbol from the video game. The principal then told the “four girls the same information and advised she thought the incident was done.”
However, rumors spread, according to the sheriff’s office report. Eventually, gossip “turned into all the students telling each other that [redacted] said on December 7, 2018, that he would shoot up the school.”
The world we live in today sucks. The fact that we have to constantly fear for school shootings everyday and take every precaution possibly stinks, but it’s obviously necessary. Here we have this high schooler who was just ecstatic about the upcoming release of the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that was coming out on December 7th. He drew the logo for Super Smash Bros. on a classroom whiteboard with the release date. Everyone proceeded to freak the fuck out, thinking he was telling everyone when he was going to shoot up the school. The picture above is what he drew on the whiteboard. Four female students went to tell the principal about the drawing so he sat down with the student and tried to find out the real deal. I have no problem with that, if anything is suspicious these days you obviously have to ask questions. The kid told the principal about the video game and how it was obviously just the logo. Was that enough to clear the air and let everyone relax? Nope, rumors flooded the school that he was going to shoot everyone on December 7th. That’s where I’ve got an issue. Why? Because everyone thinks he’s super weird since he loves video games so much. Here’s what the school’s resource officer gathered after interviewing the student…
“He knows everyone thinks he is weird but he would never hurt anyone.”
That sucks, man. I don’t really have much of a heart, but I feel for this guy. Dude just wants to play his video games and be left alone. He’s not shooting up a school, he’s rocking out to Super Smash Bros. Fuck these students. They probably thought he was so weird that everyone was scared to ask him themselves what it meant in the first place. Nope, let’s just jump to conclusions and accuse him of being a complete psychopath. Sorry not everyone plays sports, talks to girls, and hangs out at the cool table. I know how it works. We all do. Certain people get alienated and it sucks. I’m pretty sure I thought I was going to be a dinosaur up until the age of 8 and then life happened (unfortunate). Not everyone likes the same things in high school, so what? It doesn’t mean they’re going to shoot up the school. They actually had to send this letter out to every parent…
Poor kid. Hope he has a blast playing his game. I love Super Smash Bros. Who doesn’t?
