Pope Francis Says That Being Gay Is Too Fashionable And Gay People Shouldn't Be Allowed To Join The Clergy
Source - Pope Francis didn’t hold back about his concerns regarding the sexuality of potential priests.
The pontiff stated unequivocally that homosexual men should not be admitted into the Catholic clergy and gay priests should practice celibacy or leave the church, saying “there’s no room for that kind of affection” in priestly life.
In a book-length interview with Fernando Prado, a Spanish priest, released in Italy on Saturday, Francis describes homosexuality as “fashionable,” adding “that mentality, in some way, also influences the life of the church,” according to The Guardian.
The pope says he “worries” of the “serious matter” of homosexuality in the priesthood, warning gay clergy to be “impeccably responsible” by remaining committed to living in “celibacy with integrity.”
I’m with you, Pope. You can’t have the clergy being upstaged during Sunday mass because they decided to make a few “adjustments” to that drab, matchy-matchy, nightmare that they’ve been wearing for the past thousand years. Obviously, this is a cop out to him saying he doesn’t want gay priests, but I’ll take it. Although, to be honest, it’s probably too little too late.
From July 2017:
Vatican police raided a drug-fueled gay-sex party at an apartment belonging to an aide of one of Pope Francis’ key advisers, according to a new report.
Cops raided the apartment in late June after neighbors voiced concern about multiple people acting strangely while streaming in and out of the residence, the newspaper reported Wednesday.
Once police were inside the apartment, they said they found multiple men engaged in rampant drug use and homosexual activity.
I’m not even going to get into the elephant in the room. The whole thing is bizarre because he’s been flip-flopping when it comes to LGBT people ever since he’s been in office. I’m not sure if “office” is the right term, but you get the idea.
In May, Francis reportedly told Juan Carlos Cruz, one of the main whistleblowers in the Chilean Catholic Church sex abuse scandal, that his sexual orientation “does not matter,” adding that “God made you like this and loves you like this and I don’t care.”
Back in 2013, early in his time as pontiff, Francis said, “If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” At the time, he pledged not to judge priests based on their sexual orientation.
The bottom line is Pope Fran can’t seem to make up his mind. One second he’s preaching laissez-faire, the next he’s cleaning house. Like any good politician, I guess he’s just trying to please the masses. He’ll come around though, he always does.
PS: Can’t wait for the uniform update.
