Consider Me Officially Slightly Concerned Over Jaylen Brown's Foot Injury

This team and foot injuries, a match made in hell. For a player as explosive as Jaylen Brown, I’d say having issues with your foot is pretty significant. Let’s say Jay King is right and we’re dealing with a plantar fascitis case. We hear that from time to time but what is it? Well, according to my extensive Google research it is best defined as

“Sharp, stabbing pain on the bottom or side of the heel or in the arch of the foot. Pain can last for several weeks or months and can range from mild to severe. Plantar fasciitis will likely go away on its own. It may take 3 to 12 months for your plantar fascia to heal completely.”

Annoying, but not the end of the world. But because I have trust issues with this team and injury statements, I was convinced Jaylen broke a bone in his foot or something. I’ve just accepted that we should always assume the worst when it comes to this sort of stuff. The timing of this issue is pretty shitty considering Jaylen finally looked like he was playing his way out of his early season slump, so now if he has to sit for any stretch of time I don’t see how anyone could love that. Yes, this team is deep and they can make up for it, but I’m just not thrilled about hearing anything around “foot injuries” when it comes to the NBA.

I saw the quotes where Jaylen said if this was a playoff game he probably plays so I’m not jumping off the Zakim or anything, but you damn sure it’s something I am filing away for later. It’s the same concern I have with Baynes’ hamstring. These things can linger and bite you at any moment, and the last thing I want Jaylen to do is to try and overcompensate for his foot so he then injures something else. Maybe this is why his shot has struggled (36/32%), as we all know shooting starts with a strong base. I’m sure the Celtics will be overly cautious, but I remind you with MIL/IND/DEN/PHX/UTA/POR on deck, having Jaylen available is sort of important.

In the meantime let’s all just keep praying it’s nothing super serious that would require surgery or anything like that, because frankly there’s only so much my heart can take.

P.S.

Also, I couldn’t be the only person who went to this when they read “orthotics person” right? Larry David stays the GOAT
