NC Boy Gets Military-Grade Hummer Dropped In Yard For 16th Birthday

Ok, that’s not exactly what happened but if I were in the Army’s Public Affairs department that would be my best plan for a coverup. (National Guard, u guys lookin’ 4 anyone? Momma needs a few x-tra bucks.)

Anyways, what actually happened was this…

::collar pull::

Who among us doesn’t hate when you’re working on a hummer & a big load drops prematurely with no warning?

Overall it’s pretty amazing there wasn’t any damage considering the 2-ton vehicle fell from 15,000 feet over people’s homes.

From ABC News:

A U.S. Army Humvee vehicle landed in a wooded part of a rural neighborhood outside of Fort Bragg, North Carolina after prematurely deploying from a U.S. Air Force C-17, officials said. No one was hurt in the incident that is currently under investigation.

The incident occurred as the Army’s Operational Test Command was testing a new “heavy load platform” that was carrying a Humvee, said Tom McCollum, a spokesman for Fort Bragg.

“Everything went as planned except for the early release,” McCollum said, referring to how a drogue chute had pulled the platform out of the back of the cargo aircraft.

Shout out to spokesman McCollum for a great line… “Everything went as planned except for the early release.”
Yes, that is very, very true.

I’m just glad no one was hurt. I can’t even imagine… You’re in the yard pulling weeds with your headphones on & the last thing you see is a giant shadow… then splat. Quite frankly that’s why I don’t do yard work. As a final note people might want to rip on the Army for this but it didn’t go unnoticed that it was an Air Force plane. Don’t want to cause drama or anything but I’d very much like to see them fight it out for the blame.
