The Giants Trade Fan Unfavorite Eli Apple To The Saints For Draft Picks

I know he has played better and hasn’t been a distraction so far this season. But we are still hitting Eli Apple with the gif.

And thus ends the Not Laremy Tunsil Era with the Giants. His government name may be Eli Apple, but he will always be Not Laremy Tunsil to me and millions of the Giants fans since the G-Men passed on a stud left tackle prospect who slipped right into their lap in the draft because his Instagram got hacked and word came out that he *gasp* smoked weed in college and instead took a player who many saw as a reach in the Top 10. I will never forget the sound of solemn disappointment during the Giants draft party after they drafted Apple over Tunsil.

I don’t know if you guys know this, but the Giants offensive line hasn’t looked so hot lately.

Meanwhile lets see how Tunsil is doing these days.

Cool, cool. And no drug suspensions or any types of character issues to report? Just a legendary Instagram video of a college student acting like a college student, right?

Gotcha.

Shout out to Jerry Reese for providing Dave Gettleman with enough hatable players so Giants fans have something to celebrate during another lost season. Ereck Flowers getting his walking papers was the high water mark of the Giants season before Bill Belichick waxed poetic about LT and not having Eli Apple in our lives anymore will likely finish somewhere on the medal stand when all is said and done.

Sure getting rid of 2 first round picks during their rookie contracts seems crazy because experts say building through the draft is critical to a team’s success. But so is a good offensive line and quarterback that isn’t washed, and the Giants haven’t figured either of those out yet, which means they aren’t going anywhere any time soon. But if getting rid of a player that was once dubbed a cancer by a teammate in the same position meetings before he could do anything to hurt his stock during a lost season was probably for the best.

Do I wish the Giants acquired literally ANY quarterback on the Saints roster, practice squad, Chase Daniel (I feel like they have squatter rights for him no matter what team he is on), or even Drew Brees’ son that wore the headphones after New Orleans won the Super Bowl? Of course. I would have also taken literally any lineman on their roster too. But Gettleman’s first draft as Giants GM looks very good as of now and hopefully this is just the first of multiple moves where Gettleman firesells a team whose parts are better than it’s sum, preferably with a new QB being drafted at some point in the next decade if he doesn’t mind. But again, thank you Jerry Reese for making today’s good news possible. We truly wouldn’t be in this situation without you. #GoneButNotForgotten

As is always the case with goodbyes, we should take a moment to remember the good times. So here are Eli’s highlights as a Giant, which are literally just when his mom had some funny tweets on draft weekend and he roasted trolls on Twitter last year.

The lesson as always: Never trust an Eagles fan.

So goodbye Eli and best of luck in the Big Easy! Hopefully you picked up a life skill or two during your time in New York, because in the end that’s all that truly matters.

No chance Eli learned how to cook in New York City though. Nobody cooks in those tiny kitchens with Seamless and zillion different restaurants that are open all day and night at their disposal.

UPDATE: I just saw this tweet from Schefty and I thank god I didn’t see it until after the other tweets. A veryyyyyy tricky move during #TrickOrTreatSZN, Adam!

Writer’s Note: *I have no clue if Unfavorite is a real world or not, but the red squiggly line didn’t pop up when I wrote it, so I’m saying it is a word.
