Fordham Students Protesting Their Right To Host A Drag Show After Petition To Have It Canceled Gains 12,000 Signatures

Source – Fordham University students have hit back at a Christian group that demanded the cancellation of a drag show at the Catholic school this Friday.

The Bronx Jesuit school’s offices received angry calls and emails last week after an evangelical organization, the Tradition Family Property Student Group, posted a petition ripping the event at a school auditorium.

Arguing that a Christian school should not host the showcase on religious grounds, the overtly anti-gay group gathered more than 12,000 signatures and told objectors to personally contact the school’s president, the Rev. Joseph McShane.

In response, students posted their own online petition last week demanding that administrators hold the event.

GAY PEOPLE…UNITEEEEEE!!!!!

See you there, bitches! I actually feel bad for the people who signed this petition because all they did was make things worse for themselves. The show was probably going to be a low key, biblical themed production a la the 2003 VMA’s and now it’s going to be a big thing. Queens from all over the tri-state area will make their way to the Jesuit campus of Fordham University to vogue and sin in the face of adversity. I wouldn’t be surprised if they spoofed the whole thing. Jokes on the Traditional Family Property Student Group.

Obviously, they’re not going to win this one, so if you’re looking for something to do this Friday, swing by Fordham and hit up the drag show. And IF on the off chance they do win, don’t worry. It’s not the end of the world. The show will go on somewhere else. It always does.
