Tiger Woods America's Anchor

There is no doubt that Tiger Woods is back.

Back to sucking at the Ryder Cup that is.

If Tiger Woods is on the Ryder Cup team, the United States is all but guaranteed to lose and to lose spectacularly. In eight appearances on the Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods was only apart of one winning team and that was the 1999 Miracle at Brookline when the Americans needed eight and half of a possible 12 points on Sunday to win.

Don’t think is much to the Tiger Ryder Cup curse? Take these stats, in 1997 the Europeans dominated the first two rounds and won 14.5 to 13.5 in Tiger’s Ryder debut. He was on the comeback team in 1999, but in 2002 when he was at his dominant best fizzled when it mattered most, as the U.S. lost 15.5 to 12.5. In 2004 the USA was embarrassed on their home soil losing 18.5 to  9.5. The same embarrassing score was repeated in 2006.,

For the 2008 Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods was unable to play due to injury, can you guess what happened?

USA USA USA

The Americans won 16.5 to 11.5.

Tiger returned in 2010 and made America Suck Again, as the Euros won 14.5 to 13.5 and again in 2012.

Tiger Woods was not there in 2014 and we lost overseas, but in 2016 the United States won again without the Eldrick Woods 17-11.

Tiger came back this year, Ryder Cup and when we had a chance to make an early statement his pair was the only American group that lost the morning session on Friday. He was up and down Sunday, and when the United States was mounting a brief comeback his loss was the stopper as the Euros went on to win again.

Want to make America Great in Golf again? Don’t let Tiger play in anymore Ryder Cups. His overall record in Ryder Cups is terrible, especially when compared to the other golfers on the sport’s Mount Rushmore and when Jack Nicklaus played the Americans losing the cup was unheard of.

Tiger Woods Ryder Cup record 13-21-3, including 1-3 at the National Course in France. Compare that to Jack Nicklaus who was 17-8-3 in the Ryder Cup or Arnold Palmer who was 22-8-2. Lanny Wadkins was 20-11-3 in Ryder Cup play, and Sam Snead 10-2-1. The only American with 20 losses and an even worse record than Tiger Woods, who plays like Cincinnati Bengal Woods is the 2018 Jim Furyk who has a 10-20-4 lifetime in Ryder Cup matches.
