Mark Hoppus Of Blink-182 Has Requested A Spot On A Pup Punk Show In Los Angeles

Hello everyone, it’s Robbie Fox reporting LIVE on behalf of a new bit I have called ‘Friday’s News: Today’ where I’ll be taking the stuff I would’ve blogged on Friday if we hadn’t been traveling and blogging it all…today.

First up on the list, Mark Hoppus, vocalist/bassist of Blink-182, personally requesting a spot on a future Pup Punk show in Los Angeles.

Rone, Frankie, PFT, and I got back to the office around 4pm on Friday afternoon, after leaving Boston via bus at 9:30am, all just super exhausted, sore, and ready to go to sleep. We figured, let’s stick around for radio at least, where people may want to talk about our House of Blues show, and sent Rone – the most energetic/interesting member of the band at that point – in for the first segment. While he was in there, my phone starts blowing up in that unmistakable manner, where you KNOW something massive just broke online, I open up my Twitter app as quickly as I possibly could, and stormed in.

I think I can easily call that the most surreal tweet I’ve ever read online. As a lifelong Blink-182 fan, and bass player, who went as far as to form what’s basically a Blink-182 parody band with my pals at work because of my admiration for their body of work and teenage angst, I literally just got lightheaded and couldn’t stop pacing around the office reading and re-reading it. Mark Hoppus…asking Rone….to save him a spot…at our next gig in Los Angeles.

Gotta tell ya, Mark, we didn’t have ANY plans for a show in Los Angeles, but we do now. It’s happening. I don’t know when it’s happening, but it’s happening.

And this also raises the question, as Pup Punk’s current bassist: am I on the hot seat? Yeah. I’m thinkin’ I am. But I also think Mr. Frankie Borrelli and Mr. PFT Commenter are sitting on the hot seat, because I don’t think Hoppus is cucking my job after a gig with us. I think he’s going to see how Rone commands the stage, realize he’s a much better Tom Delonge than current Blink vocalist Matt Skiba is, and he’s gonna take that talented mothafucka on the road with him and Travis!

P.S. When Rone hits the “WHERE ARE YEWWWWWW, AND I’M SO SOWRREY” after Mark’s verse in “I Miss You”, musical orgasms will be had. That is a promise from me to you.
