Wake Up With Josh Donaldson Leaping Into The Stands For A Great Catch

Call me old fashioned, but I love me some Josh Donaldson. Many Orioles fans do not like him, I’m in the other boat, can’t get enough of the guy. I loved him in Oakland, thought he was a top 5 MLB player in Toronto, and now I’m excited to see him healthy in Cleveland, he’s just an all around great baseball player.

This catch is one of my favorites of his, I know he has his other tarp catch, but this one is gold. Donaldson reads the ball off the bat, tracks the ball to the railing, doesn’t break stride at all and dives into a crowd of people to make the catch. He takes one last look at the railing right before jumping and then goes face first into that man’s chest. If this was the NFL he’d have gotten a penalty for leading with his head, but what a hell of a catch.

No big deal to him either, he gets back on his feet and heads back to the field, he has shit to do. I wish I could personally show Derek Jeter this video and say “this is an example of a play where you need to go into the stands”, not catch the ball, run an extra 20 feet and then dive into the stands like the Captain did. Donaldson did it the right way, Jeets.
