Tyler Seguin Is About To Get PAID

Well I think we all saw this coming. The Dallas Stars have locked up superstar forward Tyler Seguin to a reported 8-year extension, worth a total of $78.8m with an AAV of $9.85m. just north of Jamie Benn’s $9.5m AAV. We have heard in recent weeks that Seguin and the Stars weren’t even having discussions on a new deal. And while $9.85m is a lot of money, it is well deserved for Seguin, who is one of the leagues top scorers.

Seguin is coming off a deal that made him one of the most underpaid players in the game. Buddy is putting up 40 a year and was only getting an AAV of $5.75m. Another reason for Bruins fans to cringe at the trade made a few years back.

Last season was the 2nd best of Seguin’s career, putting up 78 points (40g, 38a), in 82 games played. The best, coming in his first season in Dallas in 2013-2014 with 84 points. Seguin has scored 25+ goals and tallied over 70 points every season he has been in Dallas. Not a big deal at all.

The Stars have a lot of money invested in their forward core, dishing out $9.5m for Jamie Benn next season, $7.5m for Jason Spezza and $6.25m for Alexander Radulov. There is no reason the Stars shouldn’t be a playoff team next season. They are loaded up front.

With Seguin and Benn locked up for the long term with both deals with an AAV over $9m, the Stars need to build a Blackhawks esq operation, where they can plug and play like Chicago has done with their dynasty with Kane and Toews. Let young players develop with them. Because you aren’t going to be able to go out into free agency and spend an arm and a leg.

Thank god the Stars didn’t have a Tavares situation on their hands. What a shit show that would have been. Would have been a disaster for the franchise if they let Seguin get to free agency.

Seguin is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest beauty in the NHL. Guy is an absolute savage and complete man rocket. Imagine the party he is going to throw tonight?
