A Town In New Zealand Is Trying To Ban Cats To Help The Environment Or Some Shit Like That
The Guardian- A regional council in New Zealand has proposed banning all domestic cats in an attempt to protect native animals. Environment Southland’s “pest plan” calls for all domestic cats in the region to be neutered, microchipped and registered. Then, when a cat dies, residents would not be permitted to have another. “We’re not cat haters,” John Collins, of the Omaui Landcare Trust told Newshub. “But we’d like to see responsible pet ownership and this really isn’t the place for cats.”
I see you Southland. You guys aren’t cat haters at all! You are just trying to protect the native species of the area, make sure the delicate balance of the ecosystem is able to thrive in the most humane way possible, and blah blah blahhhhh.
This law has absolutely, positively nothing to do with cats being evil creatures in the depths of their soul. Snakes with legs, fur, and claws that will hiss and scratch an owner they have had forever. Nosiree. This is strictly a scientific issue for the betterment of Southland as well as New Zealand as a whole and all the beautiful, colorful birds that will be able to shake their tailfeathers and fly without a care in the world since no cats will be trying to slit their throats once they land. Nobody cares that cats only became pets is because they are admittedly cute as shit when they are young before growing into little monsters just like gremlins or how weird cat people are. This is all strictly for nature purposes and if you disagree with it, you are admitting that you hate nature as well as every animal except cats.
