It's Impossible To Picture The San Antonio Spurs And NBA Without Manu
I’m not okay living in a world where there’s no Manu Ginobili. He’s been one of the most entertaining players to watch whether it was his crazy lefty shots, his passing or him swatting a bat down to the floor. He’s been awesome and one of the more important players in NBA history from an international standpoint.
But, it’s not a surprise that he’s picturing retirement. It makes sense. The Spurs are completely changing this year as they move on from Tony Parker and obviously Kawhi Leonard. Him and Pop are the last two remaining core members and at 41, it seems logical for Manu to hang up. Remember, part of the Spurs plan is to get athletic in the guard spot with young guys – look at Lonnie Walker and Dejounte Murray.
Manu was drafted 57th in the 1999 draft – before guys like RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson were born. Would I like to see him continue? Yes. As a lefty and Manu fan, I want him to play forever. But, it seems like it will be time for him to retire and it would be very Spurs like for him to retire without a farewell tour or anything like that. In the meantime here are some Manu highlights:
