False Alarm: The Viral Scary Robot Video is Actually Just CGI From a Robot Uprising Miniseries Called 'Adam'
A startling video of a humanlike robot has been making the rounds on the internet showing the droid casually walking up a driveway.
If you didn’t know any better, you might think the video is real, as the hi-tech robot walks with what resembles a human’s gait and, just as it passes the cameraman, gives viewers a closer look at its white-masked face and a pair of black eyes. The clip has racked up five million views and caused many scared Twitter users to warn of the end of days.
In actuality, the creepy humanoid isn’t real after all, since it was created using computer-generated graphics. South African Director Neill Blomkamp, who is known for dystopian science fiction films including ‘District 9′ and ‘Chappie,’ blew the lid off of any rumors it was real.
‘Although no one would welcome a robot uprising more than I, it’s actually part of this miniseries,’ Blomkamp tweeted, while sharing a link to the short film ‘Adam.
Alright so we’re not totally dead just yet, although it’s definitely coming. As real as that robot may have looked in the viral video that was going around the last few days, it is now confirmed to be CGI and from a miniseries about a robot uprising. Robot/alien movie director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie, etc.) broke the news that this clip is from his show Adam and is not from real life. Still, movies lead to real things and this robot design is for sure in the works somewhere. How far along are we from a robot uprising? I’d say my potential kids are fucked and I’m okay, but we’ll see. All I can say is fuck Neill Blomkamp for scaring the living shit out of everyone. That thing looked like it was straight from I, Robot and ready to look for John Connor to destroy all faith in humanity. Blomkamp doesn’t make any movies that aren’t about robots and it’s concerning. I think he’s either a robot himself, or he just hates humanity so much that his wet dream is to wipe us out and have an Earth run by only robots.
If we ever run these robots on solar energy we are FUCKED. I’ll never genuinely get scared about the robots until I find out that’s their energy source. If they are powered by batteries and need to get charged or powered up then we’re fine. Once they only need the sun to power themselves we are doomed and there is no coming back. Blomkamp probably wants solar energy robots.
