Preseason Hype Highlights: #7 Wisconsin Badgers
I appreciate Wisconsin’s consistency. Year-in, year-out, you know the Badgers are going to compete with beefy linemen, solid quarterback play, and a 2,000 yard backfield. Moving forward in time, Wisconsin will never win a National Title (unless OldTakesExposed is reading this in which case I always knew they were going to be the next great CFB dynasty) but dammit they’ll get as close as humanly possible just to forever torture Dan Katz (also known as “Big Cat.”) Ditto for basketball.
Ron Dayne
Ron Dayne gets a lot of shit for his game not transitioning well to the pros. But, luckily for us, this is a college blog. Ron Dayne was a monster in college. If you include Bowl statistics, Dayne is the NCAA’s all time leading rusher. He’s a Heisman trophy winner. A Jim Brown award winner. A Doak Walker award winner. If there’s a college award for excellence, it’s probably collecting dust on Ron Dayne’s mantle.
JJ Watt
I’ll never understand how JJ Watt was so under-recruited coming out of high school. I’ll never understand how he was a tight end at Central Michigan. I’ll never understand how he transferred to Wisconsin, dominated at a premium position, and still fell outside the top ten in the NFL Draft. People are dumb.
Joe Thomas
I’m not going to sit here on Al Gore’s internet and pretend like I know anything about offensive line play. You don’t either, so settle down. With all that being said, Joe Thomas is pretty well revered as one of the all time greats to play in the trenches. For some unknown reason, Joe Thomas does not have a whole heap of highlight reels to choose from on Youtube.
Bo Callahan
This guy was pure Roethlisberger. Little shaky if he gets hit but outside of that he’s a can’t miss prospect. That is, assuming every one of his teammates attended his 21st birthday party.
