Wrestling Journalist Dave Meltzer Is Currently Under Fire For Comments He Made About The Looks Of Peyton Royce

So here’s the deal, I’m gonna simplify this as much as I possibly can for y’all: Peyton Royce is a WWE Superstar who had a lot of hype behind her (and her tag team partner Billie Kay) in NXT, the WWE’s developmental system, and has sorta been slow to live up to said hype on the main roster according to general consensus. Personally, I disagree with that sentiment and think both Peyton’s promos and in-ring work have been really solid, but that’s neither here nor there.

Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, who is far and away the most esteemed and respected journalist the business has ever seen, basically brought this up on Wrestling Observer Live, his radio show, and oddly blamed it on the boob-job she got right before her call-up, and used the segment as a platform to say he thought she was more attractive before said boob-job. Just for context…

Nice.

So between those comments, the tone they were said in, and Meltzer’s past history of saying some weird old-man type shit about women in the wrestling industry, he’s currently under fire for being a rampant misogynist. So much so, that Royce herself caught wind of the exchange and offered a rebuttal, asking Dave if he’d rather she starve herself.

Personally, I don’t necessarily think Meltzer meant any harm by the comments, but I do think they were creepy and for sure misogynistic coming from him, and more importantly wildly unnecessary considering his position and reputation. If Ariel Helwani were to say the same about Paige VanZant, or Miesha Tate, and their aesthetic surgeries, he’d face the same Twitter outrage, and rightfully so. We can’t have the most highly-respected journalist in our industry using his time to talk about who he finds attractive and who he doesn’t. It just makes the whole business look as seedy, creepy, and carny as it actually is, and right now we’re in an era trying to change all of that.

So in conclusion, I’m all for Meltzer catching heat for this, not only because I’m a feminist libcuck snowflake, but because ANYBODY that makes even the slightest negative remark about THIS GIRL’S looks, deserves the wrath of one thousand suns.

Oh yeah, and she’s Australian.

You crazy, Meltz.
