The Phillies lost last night to the best team in baseball. Bad fucking loss too. 1 run scored in support of Nick Pivetta’s 6 inning gem vs the best lineup in baseball. Rick Porcello was absolutely dominant over 7 innnings and their bullpen shut the door. Having said that…it’s obligatory tweet time.

Everyone in Phillies media is going to talk shit on the offense in more length then they already have this month. I am not going to do that. They have been fucking abysmal, there is no denying that. But what benefit does it provide to be constantly bad mouthing them during this slump. It’s a self-fufilling prophecy us Phillies fans have. Everything is going exactly as we pictured it in the beginning of the season. So instead of banning together as fans, we pile on because it’s the easy thing to do.

Take this morning show douchebag for example. Angelo Cataldi did his best trolling this morning and Gabe came right back at him with educated argument and passion. You can read the whole conversation here.

One of my favorite parts about this exchange is when Cataldi has no idea who is on the roster saying he would rather use JP Crawford in a pinch hit spot. JP is in AAA you fucking moron. It would be nice if you read more in depth the about the sport and manager you bash on a daily basis.

Angelo then decides to go in on the struggling rookie, Scott Kingery. We know Scott is having a tough year and using the phrase “24 million dollar pinch hitter,” is typical Cataldi.

Angelo: “I understand that. Now I have a 24 million dollar pinch runner. I’m paying the kid 24 million, he’s not giving me what I thought he would, now I’m just using him as a pinch runner. Isn’t that going to restrict his development Gabe?”

Kapler: “Great point. He’s had over 300 plate appearances, over 300 at-bats of development at the Major League level. At this point he’s not a second baseman. He is a shortstop that can play second base, that can play third base, that can play the outfield. He’s making swing adjustments, he’s getting more linear toward the pitcher. There has been a ton of development for Scott Kingery this year. Now he can be used a weapon off of the bench.”

Again, leave it to Gabe to use educated argument to put a moron in his place. I honestly respect the fuck out of Gabe for going onto that show every Wednesday morning and being able to keep his cool when doing so. I can’t say this enough, it’s idiots like Cataldi and the rest of his morning team who will try and continue to keep the Phillies down. Trying to build back the baseball allure in this town is harder to do then piggy backing more negativity into the daily Phillies rhetoric. Gabe will never let this happen. In Gabe I trust

Not much more to say about this team today. Two wins in the last 7 games and you saw the above tweet about the offense output. They are 2 games back in the East with 44 to play. In my mind, it’s better to slump in August than in September. So let’s get back on the horse, bite our lips and give it hell. C’mon Phils, We’re gonna get through this.
