Wake Forest Basketball Assistant Coach Placed On Administrative Leave After Homicide Incident

Just over a week ago, Wake Forest assistant coach Jamill Jones was tied to an incident that has been ruled a homicide. Since then he’s been placed on administrative leave by the school as he goes through the court process.

So what happened? A couple of weekends ago a man named Sabor Szabo was drunk and essentially fighting cars because he thought they were his Ubers and obviously not letting him in. One of those cars belong to Jones. Szabo also punched someone who lived in the neighborhood when he came out to see what was going on. After Szabo hit the resident, Jones punched Szabo.

That punch knocked Szabo to the ground where he hit his head and eventually died from his head hitting the pavement. Jones turned himself in and was charged with third-degree assault. It’s unclear whether or not that will change with the findings of this being a homicide now.

Jones joined the Wake staff last year after spending time with VCU, UCF and Florida Gulf Coast.
