Steve Gleason and His Wife are Pregnant
Source – ALS advocate and former NFL star Steve Gleason is expecting his second child with wife Michel thanks to a successful IVF procedure, it has been revealed.
Gleason, who documented his struggle with Lou Gehrig’s disease in a critically-acclaimed 2016 documentary, will welcome a baby girl into the world in October.
The happy couple announced the news via Instagram, posting a photo from their summer vacation in Idaho that showed a smiling – and very pregnant – Michel. …
Michel found out she was pregnant with Rivers shortly after Gleason was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a rare and incurable neurodegenerative disease.
I admit this isn’t exactly breaking news. But also that no one in the Stooliverse has posted it yet and it’s very much worth a mention. If for no other reason than it’s rare you get handed a story this optimistic and this life-affirming. Especially connected with ALS. It says everything we need to know about what kind of straight up courage the Gleason’s have to make this choice. How they’re willing to face an uncertain future head on and never stop living.
I think I speak for everyone when I say it would be even better if their daughter was conceived the way their son was. And maybe that could’ve happened because I believe Steve has said those particular parts still work. But this is great in so far as they made a conscious, affirmative decision to have another baby and keep that Circle of Life going through otherwise tough circumstances. The Gleasons have been, are, and continue to be one hell of a family. And the human race will be better for the fact they’re doubling the number of kids they’ve added to the gene pool. Godspeed.
