Breaking - Youngstown Area Police Officer Forced To Resign for Making Rough N Rowdy Promo Video. The Fight Is Still On

Vindy.com – A part-time Campbell police officer resigned Tuesday morning after a video emerged of him conducting patrols and responding to calls with a video crew from Barstool Sports’ “Rough and Rowdy Brawl” production team. Ryan Young, who until Tuesday had served as a part-time Campbell police officer, resigned after a promotional video for an amateur brawl he is participating in at the Covelli Centre on Aug. 5 emerged on Twitter. Young is set to fight Alan “Big Al” Brothers, a skateboarder from Warren, and the video is framed in a way to highlight the “cops versus skateboarder” angle.

Mayor Nick Phillips said the officer acted in a way that was not representative of the city or its police department. Young demonstrates restraint maneuvers on Barstool Sports personality Adam Ferrone, including a scene where it looks like he uses a stun device on the man, though police Chief Dennis Puskarcik said the scene was fake. Police Chief Dennis Puskarcik believes Young was likely goaded by the production team to act inappropriately during filming but said that otherwise Young was a good officer. “I want to make myself perfectly clear, Mr. Young is an excellent officer, he just got caught up in the moment, and I think he allowed this Barstool Sports crew to control him,” Puskarcik said. “I feel terrible about what happened.” Puskarcik said he allowed Young to interview with the crew, but never agreed for the crew to go on calls or for Young to demonstrate a stun device on them. “The video was inappropriate for any officer,” Puskarcik said. “If we had known the full extent of what they planned to do, it would have never been approved.”

Well that sucks huh? Listen I’m not in the business of picking fights with police departments. But I am saying once the Mayor got involved here I think the easiest thing was for the police chief just to throw Officer Young under the bus. There was no voodoo or misrepresentation involved. Rone signed releases before he went on the police ride along and did ask multiple times to make sure everything was okay. It’s a Rough N Rowdy promo video that was approved by the department and to be honest is tamer than most of the other RNR promo videos we’ve made. Not to mention the fact that Officer Young was nothing but courteous, fair and a community policeman. He handled every situation calmly and acted quickly to be an advocate for victims and the community. He showed that he had a personality, and that he was able to laugh. Essentially he’s what I think everybody wants every police officer to be nowadays. A relatable real person. It sucks he got fired for that.

Now having said that he is still fighting in RNR and here is what I’m going to do to make it right. I am going to pay him double his yearly salary win lose or draw. Obviously that doesn’t make up for getting canned over this, but at least he’ll have some extra money in his pocket. And suddenly we have a MAJOR main event and probably the most popular fighter ever to step into the ring in RNR 4.    Again I’m not happy he got fired, but when life gives you lemons you make pay per view lemonade.  That’s what I always say.

To order the fight click here.  It’s $15.99 and jumps to 20 bucks the day of the fight.   As a reminder Bill Burr, Big Cat and me will be announcing.  Pat McAfee will be doing ring intros.   Rone and Caleb doing fighter interviews.   And Officer Young will still be fighting for the men in blue who I’m sure think this is bullshit.
