This Javier Baez Slide Is Impressive But The Ump Getting The Call Right Is More Impressive
Alright so that slide by Javier Baez is super human. It’s burning up the internet streets. Stole home like an absolute boss. Jay Baez is an electric factory as it is and this just adds to his legend. An A++++++++++++++++++ slide to avoid the tag. I mean how the fuck did he avoid that tag? How? He swam around the catcher like he was Michael Phelps. The awareness and body control that takes is baffling. It’s one of the more incredible baseball plays in recent memory in my opinion.
But more impressive than the slide itself is the ump getting the call right in real time. I would’ve called him out 100 out of 100 times there. I would’ve just assumed the catcher applied the tag before Baez touched the plate cause that’s what it looked like was gonna happen. That might just mean I’d be a no good rotten umpire but it also proves that ump is a superhero with superhero vision. That’s the only explanation I can come up with. Cause you gotta watch it a couple times in slow motion to make sure he didn’t get tagged and only then are you sure. Not that ump and his eagle eyes. He knew it right away. Boom. Safe. No doubt in his mind. Maybe he was guessing but I don’t think so. Impressive to say the least. Fans love to shit all over umpires so it’s important to point out when they do something spectacular and that was spectacular.
