Wake Up With Ken Griffey Jr Making A Running Catch In Their "Turn Ahead The Clock" Night Uniforms
Happy Ken Griffey Jr Monday everyone. While my Lakers were busy singing Lebron, all I could think about was the uniforms the Mariners wore this weekend. You see in the video above, the first time Seattle wore these beauties was in 1998, most of the teams followed in 1999 and participated in the event. Griffey made a hell of a catch here, sprinting full speed and catching the ball on the warning track. Guy could move like a gazelle.
The best part is obviously the uniform, not tucked in, sleeveless, giant Swingman tattoo on his arm, hat backwards, silver glove, these were the best. They originally wore them in 1998 to celebrate the future Mariners 50th season. I was super excited when I saw the Mariners announced they would be bringing out the unis for this season too. IDK why they thought baseball players would be wearing silver stuff and have no sleeves, but I’m glad they assumed that.
The video from the first “Turn Ahead The Clock” game were fantastic. Announcers were so confused on why the jerseys weren’t tucked in, if they were breaking a rule, commenting on the colors. Griffey and the other players with the backwards hats was awesome. Everyone did it when they were a kid, it was the coolest thing you could do. The no sleeves is different, looks okay though. I love them saying Griffey had the idea to spray paint the helmets ti make them silver, I saw that he even spray painted teammates cleats. Just ridiculous uniforms, I’m sure Chris Sale had an aneurism when he first saw these, he would have no part in this celebration. I am confused with the Royals uniforms. They look like the University of Delaware baseball team, but whatever, it’s the future Royals.
The pictures from the Mariners game this weekend were awesome, Dee Gordon and Nelly Cruz really embraced it and went full 1998. I think the umps did tell Gordon to tuck in his jersey. They looked so bomb. I’m sure the old heads with the MLB Hall Of Fame were having strokes seeing King Felix pitch with an untucked shirt, or Dee Gordon sleeveless. Just 0 room in the game for these disgusting acts.
Also, Rob did NOT like the Mariners disrespecting the game with the backwards hats during the game. Ugh, makes me SICK!
