Barstool Sports Is Inside The Ropes At The U.S. Open And It's The Coolest Thing Ever

So I’m not sure if you’ve heard or not but we’re credentialed at the U.S. Open. The United States Open. Hosted by the USGA. It’s not really a big deal outside of the fact that it’s a massive deal. One might think the USGA is this old school, buttoned up, snooty organization that would turn its nose to Barstool Sports. One would be wrong.

This morning I contacted my close personal friend the USGA and said I would like inside the ropes passes for the boys. The USGA complied. I am not kidding when I tell you Frankie and I might be hitting some putts by the end of the day. It’s that good.

Started out by following our buddy Matt Parziale. 30-year-old firefighter made the cut in the U.S. Open. Amazing.

The 12th grandstand is the best place to watch and people are taking notice. We had U.S. Open course setup man Jeff Hall on the pod this week, he said this is the best spot, so obviously the line is basically to the ocean.

I quickly succeeded in becoming the first media member to be inside the ropes with a beer. On brand.

After Parz finished up, I buzzed over to follow Phil and Beef. Casually waltzed down the fairway with them on 14.

Nearly read their putts for them on 16.

Phil had a nice little chat with his brother on 17 about the wind changing. The wind has changed folks!

Then on the 18th I ran into Frankie and we basically j’d each other off over how cool this was. Walked right up the damn 18th fairway at Shinnecock on Saturday of the U.S. Open with Phil Mickelson himself.

And his score keeper man and woman.

Shoutout to Frankie and me pulling a classy journalist move and sitting down while they putt out so as to not block any paying fans’ views. The people’s bloggers/pizza review cameramen.

Frankie was — and you won’t believe this — like a 9-year-old child trying to get Phil’s autograph. Act like you’ve been there before, kid.

I thought Wednesday inside the ropes with Kisner was cool. This destroys that. I kid you not when I say being inside the ropes at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills is the coolest experience of my life.

I’d love to be out there right now but had to buzz back to the media center to blog about it.

And now it’s back out to get real up close and personal with DJ and every other American in the mix. It’s the U.S. Open for a reason. God I love this tournament and my favorite organization, the United States Golf Association.
